Arona Sauvignon Blanc - A Colorful Wine

As the flowers are blooming, the sun starts shining, and the temperature is getting warmer and warmer... nothing seems more satisfying than a wine that matches the colors outside. It is officially patio drinking time and the perfect accompaniment is Arona Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. The word Arona is actually the Maori term for colorful.

Sauvignon Blanc has carried its fame as a spring and summer wine because of its crisp freshness that quenches thirst when it's warm out. Generally fermented in stainless steel tanks, this is a "drink now" wine that shows its herbaceous qualities, minerality, and citrus flavors in a most recent vintage.

New Zealand wines often create a sense of grapefruit and grass on the palate. For some, this grassy quality can be a bit much. Arona is one of the few wines out there that will satisfy both lovers of a New Zealand style and those that love Sauvignon Blanc in general. A very crisp and citrus forward wine with slight minerality and herbs that do not overpower the wine. Not intimidating to the everyday consumer but complex enough for someone who likes a solid finish.

This wine was rated in 2009 as #31 on the Top 100 Value list. This wine pairs perfectly with any light meat on the grill, a seafood pasta, or a light sauce.

Recommended food pairing:
